DRG Architects was selected to design a new, 6,900 SF Administration Building for the Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority (SRVSA). The building will be constructed on SRVSA’s existing campus and will house the Authority’s administrative activities. Spaces include offices for SRVSA leadership (engineering team, finance officers, human resources, regulatory compliance, director and plant operators), a meeting room and large conference room, lunch room, toilets, utilities rooms, and a public-facing desk in the lobby. One of this project’s design considerations is the inclusion of special acoustic treatments that increase the comfort of building occupants by reducing the transmission of sound created by loud, on-site machinery. Additionally, state and local stormwater management ordinances necessitate the use of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) that will reduce peak flow rates, reduce runoff volume, and provide water quality treatment of stormwater runoff from the site. These BMPs may include the use of pervious pavement, bioretention systems, or infiltration systems.
