Our professionals in conjunction with Dewberry were professionally engaged to provide a complete upgrade to the circa 1960’s courts building including both the Courthouse rotunda and the 7-story office building connected to the courts. A full program was developed and vetted through the courts administration and county commissioners. The alterations and renovations of all the spaces were in accordance with the current Health and Life safety requirements. Full ADA compliance was achieved and inspected by the Municipal accessibility advocate. The design work included all approaches to the building, lobby areas, restrooms, jury rooms and courtrooms with fully accessible Judge’s bench areas. Clear pathways were addressed for the visually impaired throughout the buildings. The vertical transportation was renovated with completely upgraded finishes and the most current notification devices. Furniture, counters and all public areas were designed for robust constituent service. The buildings were occupied in 2021 and now serve not only courts functions but also other administrative county Divisions and Departments of importance in an effort to consolidate county government.
